Ended: Charity auction for Japan – part II

Our second charity auction for Save the Children´s effort in Japan has ended. We received 27 bids, the highest reached 51 $. We have also received a donation of additionally 60 $, and we will shortly transfer the final amount of 111 $ to Save the Children´s Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund.

A warm thank you to all the bidders, and everyone who helped us spread the word about the auction. We know we cannot save the world, but we can make a dent – and we are!

Update: Charity auction for Japan – part II

Even though the news report are fewer, Japanese children are still fighting a daily battle after the earthquake and tsunami disaster.

All the proceeds from Life is Art´s charity auction for Japan part II will go to Save the Children´s Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund, who are helping to provide disaster relief and support to Japanese children. In addition to immediate relief, the fund are supporting long-term recovery plans to restore education and child care in Japanese communities ravaged by the disasters.

Charity auction for Japan – part II

Life is Art – Art for Charity is following up the previous charity auction to help Japan´s Youngest Survivors with three new photographs to raise money for the same cause.

Even though the news report are fewer, Japanese children are still fighting a daily battle after the earthquake and tsunami disaster. The proceeds from this auction will go to Save the Children´s Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund, who are helping to provide disaster relief and support to Japanese children. In addition to immediate relief, the fund are supporting long-term recovery plans to restore education and child care in Japanese communities ravaged by the disasters.

Multiple child-friendly spaces have already been established in evacuation centers in Sendai City where displaced families are staying. Child-friendly spaces provide children with an opportunity to play with other children while freeing up parents to work on the recovery.

Anny Langer, Allan Twiname and Annailo have donated a photograph each to this auction. All photographs are size 30 x 40 cm.

Art without borders

“Kunst ohne Grenzen – Art without borders”

Two of our members are currently exhibiting their photographs at the third “Kunst ohne Grenzen – Art without borders” at Kolping Hotel Am Römerturm in Cologne, Germany.

The “Art without borders” artists have exhibited together several times before in Cologne and Odense, Denmark. This year´s artists are:

The hotel closes for extensive rebuilding in June, and will be closed for approximately 1 year. The exhibition will then round off the “old time” in the “old Kolpinghotel”. Therefore, the artists have chosen to create a colorful exhibition of photos from several countries. This way, it is not only a a group of international artists, but also a collection of international photographs.

Our charity auction with photographs by Julie Knee, Nuno Saque Ferreira and Anny Langer to help Japan´s younget survivors, has ended with 41$ as the final bid.

The money will shortly be donated to Save the Children.

On Anny Langer´s request, the money will be donated to Save the Children and their effort to help Japanese children who are facing extraordinary challenges to their well-being and recovery from the disasters. Save the Children estimates that at least 100,000 children have been affected by the disasters; many of whom have suffered profound losses.
