Nearly ten years ago a group of people from Europe and the US met on an art-related online community. Creative ideas came to life, friendships were established. And from there it snowballed.
A member of this community, Becky Dillon, saw our potencial and started a non-profit organization called The Spirit Lives On. She firmly believed that everyone who desires a space to show their art should have that opportunity.
TSLO arranged their first art exhibition in Filosogangen Gallery in Odense, Denmark in 2004. 47 non-professional artists from more 13 countries tributed and spent two amazing weeks together in the Danish city. They followed up with a new exhibition in the same gallery every summer, up until 2007 when the Organization had to dissolve. Becky also arranged a fifth and final show for us in the same gallery in 2008, on her own behalf.
The primary success was the ability to share hopes, dreams and a varying worldview through the individual creations, and give the artists a venue where they could come and share those ideas with others. Some of the pieces were purchased by the visiting public, but many other pieces went home with new friends; other artists who had gained new insight into a different world. The essence of the Association´s ideals was already being served.
